INGREDIENTS:
- Water - 1 cup
- salt - 1 tsp
- Semolina / Suji - 1 cup
- oil - for frying
RECIPE STEPS:
- Heat a pan at medium flame; add water and salt followed by the suji.
- Cook the suji on medium heat, for 2-3 minutes or until it leaves the side of the pan.
- Cover the pan, turn of the heat and allow it to rest for about 15-20 seconds.
- Transfer the suji in a large kneading plate, using your hand knead the suji, you can add little oil incase the dough is sticky.
- Knead until you form smooth and soft dough. Place the dough on a plastic sheet, and using a rolling pin, begin to roll it to about 1 cm thickness.
- Once done allow the dough to cool down for 5 minutes if it gets too hot to cut. Using a knife cut the dough into 1 cm long thick strips. Then cut the long strips, to the size of french fries.
- In a deep frying pan, heat the oil on high flame. Add the suji french fries in batches. Deep fry until they are golden brown and crunchy. Follow the same procedure for the remaining suji french fries. Remove on a kitchen towel.
- Sprinkle some, pizza herbs or mixed herbs. Serve Suji French Fries with mayonnaise or ketchup.
RECIPE NOTES :
